All That’s wrong with writing today.

Hey, my name is Dougie. I’m a copywriter.

My fever dream 90s movie pitch is an action-heist-thriller where Wesley Snipes as Simon Phoenix (Demolition Man) goes Mano a Mano with retired LAPD detective Vincent Chase (Heat), played by Al Pacino, as a young Phoenix begins to grow his criminal empire in Los Angeles.

Working Title: Dead Heat

Working Tag: Simon Says Die

And these About Me’s have become too much.

How much do you really need to know about a person? Isn’t all you need to know in the work or maybe speculated off of a semi-forced irreverent picture of themselves? *See Picture To Left* What really is unique in an About Me? Aren’t they all pretty much the same? A quirky anecdote about themselves, a quick pithy sentence or two that reaches the proper level of snarky that maybe leans smartass but never crossing the line into intolerable. Truthfully, how many “I do words good”, “I draw things”, “My parents don’t understand what I do”, or any variation of these super unique and ironic constructions does it take before you start to question, do these people write words good? Can they actually draw things? Why don’t their parents understand them? Surely, it all begins to blend together and then next thing you know you’re caught in an irony doomloop. What if there was another way? A “written out” way. A more self-indulgent, smug, and filled with grammatical errors way. Something put down either to grab attention, ignored, or mildly tolerated. There’s no chance something like that would ever turn into a bloated block of letters where while nothing is overtly stated, everything you need to know is pretty much revealed and it totally sticks the landing.
